Ready to attend the 75th EAAP Annual Conference?

The European Association for Animal Production (EAAP) is preparing for its 75th annual meeting in the picturesque city of Florence, Italy. This important event will take place from September 1-5, 2024 and will attract animal production experts and enthusiasts from all over the world. The central theme of this year's congress is “Global Quality: Environment, Animals, Food”.

Over the course of five days, the conference will offer 98 animal science sessions. These sessions are organized in collaboration with the eleven EAAP Study Commissions. They aim to present a comprehensive view of different areas of animal science, including genetics, feeding, physiology, animal health and welfare, precision livestock farming and studies on specific species such as horses, pigs, insects, cattle, sheep and goats.

Participants can expect an extensive program with several scientific sessions taking place in parallel. In these sessions, the latest research results from the broad spectrum of animal science will be presented and discussions and insights into ongoing research projects will be provided. The event provides an important platform for knowledge exchange and professional networking.

Florence, known as the cradle of the Renaissance, offers a rich cultural and artistic heritage. Participants will have the opportunity to explore the numerous monuments, historical sites, museums and churches. As the capital of Tuscany, Florence is also known for its breathtaking hilly landscapes, the famous Chianti region and its renowned agricultural products such as wine, olive oil and the Chianina cattle famous for the “Fiorentina steak”.

The social events during the congress will take place in some of the city's most spectacular locations. These gatherings will allow participants to get to know the local culture and cuisine, complementing the scientific program in an enjoyable way. Invitation to participate in the plenary session at the 75th EAAP Annual Meeting

We are pleased to invite you to participate in the plenary session of the 75th Annual Meeting of the European Association for Animal Production (EAAP), which will take place in Florence from September 1-5, 2024. The plenary session will be a highlight of the conference and will present a wide range of perspectives on critical issues in animal science. The plenary session, chaired by EAAP President Isabel Casasús and entitled “Reassessing our relationship with farm animals”, will feature experts Linda Keeling (Sweden), Elena Nalon (Italy), Carolina Cucurella (Belgium) and Achim Spiller (Germany). In addition, the President of the Italian Society of Animal Sciences (ASPA), Nicola Macciotta, will give a presentation on the Italian livestock industry and animal science research, and the winner of the 2024 Leroy Prize, Carolina Metges (Germany), will talk about the influence of early nutrition on the performance and physiological parameters of pigs.

This plenary session promises to offer valuable insights into the evolving relationship between humans and farm animals, incorporating the perspectives of academia, stakeholders, industry and the public. It will provide an excellent opportunity to engage with leading experts, discuss current challenges and explore innovative solutions in animal science.
