Goals and activities
The "Swiss Association for Animal Sciences" (SAAS) is a registered association based in Zug for the promotion of animal sciences in Switzerland, in particular in the fields of genetics, nutrition, husbandry, health, physiology and animal welfare, as well as for the preservation of genetic diversity of farm animals and sustainability of animal production systems in all major animal species.
The SAAS aims at the cooperation of Swiss organisations, institutes and individuals active in or interested in the aforementioned fields. In particular, the SAAS aims at networking the relevant research, education and practice.
The SAAS pursues its goals by:
- promoting contact between experts
- communicating results from research and practice through:
- conferences and seminars with an interdisciplinary character as well as in special fields of animal science
- conferences with short reports on current research projects
- demonstrations, excursions and visits
- representating Switzerland in the European Federation of Animal Science (EAAP), in particular in its expert commissions and working groups
- organising and implementing international specialist events and publishing scientific findings
- initiating and supporting projects in the field of animal sciences in liaison with the relevant research institutions.
